The Center of North America

Leaving Minot we continue east on highway 2. We're still seeing hay fields but now and then corn fields appear. Tonights stop is Turtle River State Park in North Dakota (about 20 miles west of the Minnesota state line). As it's late Sunday afternoon the park is pretty quiet. The temperature is in the 90sF so we join the majority of people in the park at the river.

Highway 2 passes through the geographical center of North America.

Zaph is waiting for a stone to be thrown --- he swims to the spot where the stone hit the water.

This beautiful stone and log structure is a picnic pavilion that was built in the 1930's by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp).
